Special Needs Narrated

N/A Facebook Messenger Global Rank

When something happens in our lives, it forms the basis of a story waiting to be told. When someone tells us a story, it offers a glimpse into the lives in which they lead. By describing this page, I am essentially telling a story about how this page started, and the purpose it serves.

As a special educator, my stories are intertwined with those of the kids I work with, as well as their families. Sessions with the kids always give rise to incredible and funny stories; but let's not forget the frustrating yet challenging stories too. Conversations with parents give rise to inspirational stories, coupled with stories of fear and worries. Messages from parents sometimes document stories of encouragement, and sometimes that of desperation.

Through these interactions and conversations, as well as reflections of my own, I realize the importance of telling stories. When stories are told, we share both the positive and negative emotions associated. We also encourage and discuss possible ways to get around problems. Lastly, these stories help us to engage in self-reflections, and are avenues for understanding and awareness.

Hence, Special Needs Narrated was birthed, to be a platform for all to interact. Kids, teachers, therapists, parents, friends - as long as you have a story to share regarding special needs, and the successes and obstacles you have faced, or are facing - we are more than happy to listen to your stories, and perhaps to co-construct future stories to come.
