Welcome and our moderation policy

Welcome to the Social Democrats Facebook page. Here you will find updates about events and issues that are important to our drive for progressive social change in Ireland.

We very much encourage your comments, feedback and criticism on any issues. And of course we are always delighted to see people sharing and liking our posts.

We appreciate that people join conversations on our Facebook page to share experiences and raise awareness about issues that they may feel passionately about. This often leads to lively conversations and a diverse range of opinions, including some that may be different to yours.

While you may feel strongly about issues being discussed, we ask that you show courtesy for the views of others, even if you don’t necessarily agree with them. Our party is built on the values of respect, equality and diversity. We encourage open and constructive debate that reflects the diversity of views in our society – and in that spirit we ask you to try to stay on-topic and don’t be abusive.

Our guidelines, set out below, aim to encourage open, respectful and constructive conversations and debates. If we consider that these guidelines are not being observed, we may remove sensitive or inappropriate content or limit the audience that sees it. We also reserve the right to block users who routinely flout our guidelines.

We only moderate or remove posts or block users after thorough consideration.

This page is managed by our communications team. If you’d like to contact us directly to raise an issue or seek further information, do please get in touch on [email protected].

Guidelines The following guidelines are designed to enable all users to participate freely and fully in discussions. Please keep these in mind when you participate.
