I'm raising money to help pay for free lunch and breakfast in low decile schools in Porirua/Wellington. If we can get to $2000, I'll shave off my dreads. If we don't get there I'll still donate the money.

Kids Kai time is an organisation that helps kids in low decile schools by providing free ( & healthy) breakfasts, lunches, education around healthy living and food preparation, and helps them set up their own vegetable gardens at the school to go back into those lunches. I've hung out with some of the kids that benefit from this and those crack up little dudes and chicks deserve as much help as we can give them.

It's not a complicated concept, we don't all have the same chances or opportunities to start life off on a good note, but being able to concentrate on learning at school so you can turn your situation around and improve your own chances should be a given. This isn't the reality for a lot of kids at these schools though. Growing up and getting paid means me and (hopefully) you can help change this.

So, I'm chopping off the dreadlocks I've had stuck to my head for the last 15 years in the hopes that some of you will want to chip in and help the kids out, or even if you just want to see me cut them off and are prepared to donate to do so, I'm cool with that too. If we can get to $2000 I'll cut them all off. If not, I'll give them the money and put the scissors back down.

NB: this isn't a fundraiser for Kids Kai Time - it's a fundraiser for local low decile schools, Kids Kai Time are experts at this and have kindly offered to lend an expert hand to help make it happen.
