I won the Asembo Award for an online story and documentary on modern day slavery in Africa and the Okello Medal for public service for a portfolio of work that included pieces on income inequality in rural Kenya, LGBT rights in Kisumu, rape in Kampala. My work also has been honored by Investigative Reporters and Editors, the Online News Association, the Foreign Press Association, the National Association of Lesbian and Gay Journalists and others.
