IP RTSP/RTP Security Cameras

N/A Amazon Alexa Global Rank

Alexa allows you to ask your FireTV, or Alexa device thats paired to your FireTV, to show you a camera stream. This also works on Echo Show and Echo Spot. Read about it from Alexa's blog post here: https://developer.amazon.com/blogs/alexa/post/181a2237-8bb8-4dcb-badd-f70d14884c9f/introducing-smart-home-camera-control-with-alexa

Many companies are creating camera skills for their IP cameras, but the camera streams all speak the same protocol (RTSP). This skill allows you to configure Alexa with any RTSP (or RTP) endpoint!

http://alexasetup.cam will redirect you to the setup page for your RTSP/RTP steams. I can't afford an SSL cert for this skill, so thats why the URL redirects to an AWS API gateway that provides that for free. It redirects to https://yhum0uuwki.execute-api.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/prod/ if you want to go to that directly to be careful of malicious attacks on the redirect. On that page you can Login with Amazon and add RTSP/RTP stream URLs there. Ask Alexa to run device discovery, and setup is complete. This skill has to be enabled for discovery to detect the new RTSP/RTP endpoint(s).

If you'd like to show camera streams on a FireTV remotely using a paired Alexa device, go to the Music, TV, & Books section in the Alexa app and select FireTV. From there, you can pair your Alexa device with at most 1 FireTV.
