Welcome to Hive - Optimized for Smart Home. This skill will enable you to ask Alexa to control your connected Hive devices.

New! You can now use your Echo and Amazon Alexa to control your Color Changing Hive Active Light™. Using the Hive skill, you'll be able to change the color and tone of white with your bulbs. You can change the color of your light to blue, pink, purple, orange, green, red or yellow. You can also control the warmness of your tuneable white bulbs from warm white, soft white, white, daylight, right through cool white.


With the Hive Smart Home Skill and Alexa, you can now interact with your, Hive Active Thermostat™ Hive Active Light™ and Hive Active Plug™ by voice. To get started, select the ‘Enable Skill’ button in this screen. Then you need to link your Hive account and discover your device(s). Here’s a handy list of commands you can use with Alexa and Hive to control your home:

Hive Active Thermostat™

Alexa can raise or lower the temperature without a specific degree amount.

When using these commands, the temperature will change by 2 degrees:
Alexa, increase thermostat
Alexa, decrease thermostat

Setting your thermostat to a specific temperature:
Alexa, increase thermostat by 10
Alexa, set thermostat to 75

Asking for your inside temperature and target temperature:
Alexa, what is the temperature in here?
Alexa, what is the living room set to?

Quick Hints

- Currently, the Alexa system does not allow for changing a thermostat's mode.

- It is recommended to operate the thermostat in COOL or HEAT mode.

- The thermostat must first be named before use with the Alexa system. This is most easily done via your Hive app. Thermostat names such as Upstairs or Office that use common words are recommended over names such as Dwn strs or Bob & Debs.

When using the skill, you need to specify by name which device to use. There are two ways to control devices.

* Use the name you set up already – these are shown in the manage device section of your Hive app and can be changed there too.

Tip - If you do change the name of your device. Remember ask to 'discover devices' again so Alexa knows the new name you're using.

* Create an Alexa group, such as Bedroom or Downstairs, and add the device(s) or sensor(s) to the group. More information is available at http://amzn.to/2965dCE.

- Hive account with your username and password
- Hive Hub
