Finnish Baby Box

It all started as a crazy idea by three dads living in Finland. We wanted to give families around the world a possibility to get the same box every Finn can get.

For the almost 80 years, Finnish mothers have been given a box by the Finnish state; a starter kit with necessities ranging from clothes to toys, to help care for their newborn. Today Finland holds one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world, in part thanks to the maternity package.

When BBC News Magazine wrote an article about the Finnish maternity package in June 2014, people from all over the world expressed interest in having one. Unfortunately, the Finnish maternity package was only available to expecting mothers in Finland. Moreover, the products that are specifically designed and produced for the Finnish maternity package by local companies, could not be bought separately.

With the joy of caring for our newborns and the value provided to us by the maternity package fresh in mind, we decided to make a similar product available to families all around the world. We ventured out to assemble the Finnish Baby Box. We have now shipped thousands of boxes to over 80 countries across the world.
