My name is Donna Dodson, but my friends call me Do. I’m a DIY Enthusiast, Decorative Furniture Painter, Encourager of Women, Creative Entrepreneur, DIY Instructor, Designer, Blogger, Photographer, Coffee Snob, Wife, Mother, Grandma, Nurse and borderline hoarder of junk. That’s a lot of hats! Most important, Grandma to 6 of the most perfect GRANDS in the whole world. GOD is so good!

I’m 53 years old, and I recently retired from a nursing career of 33 years. My hair is gray and I’m loving every strand of it. Today, I’m doing exactly what I planned to do, and that is to encourage women to find their passion, relove old furniture and inspire them to look beyond life’s imperfections. Being happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect, it’s just that you’ve decided to see life beyond the imperfections.

I’ve always been known as “thrifty” as I’m sure I obtained that from my Grandmother. Memories of her decorating and setting the table with mismatched dishes is a happy memory. Mom also frequented Goodwill and I tagged along and paid attention. Flea markets, garage sales, thrift stores and curbside finds are like Christmas Day to me.

I have many passions and the list is growing daily. My TRUE passion is attached to the paint brush, but I also enjoy working with my power tools and modifying furniture and interior design. I tend to be attracted to the ugliest, saddest piece of furniture I can find and then bring them back to life. I LOVE a good challenge!
