Albert County Museum
The Albert County Museum is a complex of nine buildings on a 6 acre site that includes original Shiretown buildings in their original locations. If these walls could talk… and they do! Experience the Gaol cells where you are surrounded by the recently uncovered prisoner graffiti that makes every nook and cranny come alive. Layer upon layer of names, dates, drawings and poetry tell the story of what it was like to do time in the Albert County Gaol. Review the evidence from the Tom Collins trials and decide for yourself if justice was served. Explore through the twenty-two themed galleries of the museum and discover the captivating and thought-provoking stories of life in Albert County. Relax in our 20 seat theatre and watch our remarkable biographical film on Prime Minister Bennett’s life. Search for your Albert County roots in our Resource Room. There are things to explore in every corner. So come for a visit, we think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
